Nivedita Joshi Saraf Biography

Nivedita Joshi, currently known by the name Nivedita Joshi Saraf is an Indian actress associated with Hindi and Marathi entertainment industry. She is married to noted character artist and comedian of Hindi and Marathi films, Ashok Saraf. Joshi started her film journey in the mid-1970s, and has worked in Bollywood films since 1977. In a career spanning to four decades, she has done different kinds of roles on big and small screen.

 

Nivedita was born and brought up in Mumbai to a typical Maharastrian family. She was born on 6th June, 1965. She is married to veteran Marathi actor, Ashok Saraf, who has done memorable roles in Bollywood films and Hindi soaps too. The couple has one son. Nivedita’s childhood and youth days were spent in Mumbai, where she completed her schooling and graduation. She got drawn to the world of acting since her school days, and she has been associated with cultural events and competitions since then.

 

She started off with Marathi plays, before turning fully active in television. She has also done film roles. In Bollywood, she was first seen in 1977 Jeetendra starrer Apnapan, where she played the bit role of a beggar. Throughout 1980s she got small roles onscreen, before getting good roles. Narasimha, King Uncle, Ghar Mein Ram Gali Mein Shyam etc are some of the Bollywood movies in which she appeared.

 

Vahto Hi Durvanchi Judi, Tilak- Agarkar, Hasat Khelat, Akhercha Sawall, Premachya Gava Jave, Vegal Vhayachay Mala, Shrimant, Magna Talyakathi, Tuzya-Mazyat, Cottage No.54 and Sangeet Sanshay Kallol are among her noted Marathi plays. She was also seen in Hindi soaps, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Sapnon Se Bhare Naina. Currently she is fully active in Marathi television.
