Nikita Thukral Biography

Nikita Thukral is a south Indian film actress who works in all south Indian languages. Thukral was born into a Punjabi family and was raised in Mumbai. Yet she debut through Telugu film Hai in 2002. Malayalam movie, kaiyethum doorathu opposite debutant, Fahad Fazil was released in the same year and the role was noted. But the movie flopped and later she moved to other south Indian languages and became successful as well. Thus she belongs to the long list of those Malayalam heroines, whose talents were not noticed in this industry, but later became successful in other south Indian languages.

 
Nikita was born in Mumbai to Punjabi parents on 6 July 1981. She completed her M.A in Economics from Kishinchand Chellaram College. She was spotted by producer D. Ramanaidu in Juhu and gave her break to film industry through Telugu movie, Hai. Same year Kaiyethum doorathu was released in Malayalam which launched film director Faazil’s son, Fahad Fazil to Malayalam. The failure of the movie resulted in the disappearance of both the leading actors from Malayalam screen. But the songs were big hits. Fahad Fazil returned back to screen after a long time with a new look and immensely successful. Nikita returned to Malayalam in 2005 with two Mammootty movies, Bus Conductor and Bhargava Charitham Moonam Khandam. But the failure of both these movies prompted her to return back to Telugu and Tamil industry. Yet she occasionally appears in Malayalam movies.

 
Nikita tried her luck in all south Indian languages and Venkat Prabhu's Tamil multistarrer Saroja was her first hit. Her role as Kalyani and item number "Kodana Kodi" were instant hits. For the role, she won ITFA Best Supporting Actress Award also. She was banned from Kannada films for three years by the Kannada Film Producers' Association (KFPA) for an alleged illicit relationship with actor Darshan. But later the ban was lifted.
