Neena (tamil Actress) Biography

Neena is a south Indian film actress who predominantly worked in Tamil movies. Started her career as a child artiste in the late 1980s the actress won critical acclaim for her performance in the Tamil film Vidukathai (1997). It was K. Balachandar's production venture directed by Agathiyan. As a child artist she gained recognition playing the daughter of S. P. Balasubrahmanyam in the commercial hit – Keledi Kanmani. The movie released in 1990 ran for over 285 days at theatres. She was also seen in in Selva's serial drama, Neela Mala as a child artist. Though she has been offered numerous roles throughout 1990s, this actress has been selected in her roles.

Neena made her film debut through 1990 classic Keledi Kanmani, where she played Anju’s childhood role. Her childhood role was the pivot character of the movie and the whole movie revolves around this character.  Neena showed tremendous promise of becoming a good heroine in the future, through this single role. She also played a child artist role in TV series, Neela-Mala. However she didn’t accept any movie for the next 7 years.

Vidukathai (1997) marked her adult debut. She played the heroine opposite Prakash Raj and the film opened to positive reviews. She was just waiting for the right moment to mark her comeback to the industry and she succeeded as well. Her excellent acting skills and her powerful role earned rave reviews also.

She was later seen in Raasi, Kannathal and Nagalingam and then took a break from film acting. She did a comeback through Tamil television serial, Chitthi and a few more soaps. She played lead role of Kannatha, a devotee of goddess in the 1998 Tamil devotional film, Kannathal. She was seen in a similar role in 2000 film – Nagalingam, and disappeared from film scene.
