Namrata Shirodkar Biography 
Namrata Shirodkar is Miss India 1993, a successful model and Bollywood actress. She is successful in Telugu movies too. She is the granddaughter of great Marathi heroine of yesterdays - Meenakshi Shirodkar. Her elder sisiter Shilpa Shirodkar is an actress of Bollywood screen during 90’s.
Namrata Shirodkar was born in Maharastra in a family Goa origin. During early 90’s she started working as a model and winning Femina Miss India in 1993 acted as a crown to her modeling career. She began to get more opportunities and was very active in modeling during 90’s. She represented India in Miss Universe in 1993 and finished 5th. She represented India in Miss. Asia Pacific too. Here again, unfortunately she just missed the crown and became first runner up.
After a few modeling assignments, she began to work in Bollywood in the second half of 90’s. Jab pyar kise se hota hai (1998) – opposite Salman Khan was her debut movie. She played the role of a betrayed woman in this movie. Though her role was small, the song ‘Oh jaana’ hit the bull’s eye. This song was the most popular song of the movie. Next year she played the leading lady of Sanjay Dutt’s movie – Vasthav. This movie was critically well acclaimed for team work and powerful performances of all actors and she too, proved that she is not just a model. She played the role of a traditional house wife’s role in this movie, with less make ups and wearing sari. She did the leading lady role of Mamooty in Malayalam flick – Ezhupunna Tharakan in the year 1999.
In 2000, she did an item song for super hit comedy ‘Hera Pheri’, supporting role in Astitva where Tabu played leading role and Pukar. In Pukar, she played the role of a success model and Miss.India and Miss.Asia Pacific winner. This role well reflected her career too. She was the supporting actress of the movie, next to Anil Kapoor and the song pictured on her ‘Suntha hai mera khuda’ was well noticed. She was nominated for supporting actress at IIFA Award functions too.
She got married to Telugu star Mahesh Babu in the year 2005. Her roles were noticed in the movies like Kache daage, hero hindusthani, Dil vil pyar pyar, Albela, Tera mera saat rahe and Bride and Prejudice. She played the leading role in Dil vil pyar pyar opposite Madhavan and the movie was a box office success too.
