Namrata Sawhney Biography

Namrata Sawhney is an actress, voice actress and singer, who works in Bollywood and Marathi entertainment industry. Her voice was used as ‘The Common Man's wife’ (Voice Over) in the highly acclaimed thriller – A Wednesday. She is verse in English, Hindi and Marathi languages and currently one of the most sought artists in the dubbing field. One of the veteran artists of the field she has spent three decades in the entertainment industry as a dubbing artist and has dubbed characters for foreign media also. She frequently dubbed for actress Sridevi for her Tamil to Hindi dubbed versions. For the Hindi version of Hollywood blockbuster Titanic, she rendered her voice for its lead actress Kate Winslet.

She was born in Patiala, Punjab in the year 1970. In 1983 she started her career as a voice actress at the age of 13, as a child artist. Then she got associated with radio shows and regularly worked in radio as a dubbing artist and voice artist for radio plays. Kissa Tota Maina was her first radio show. Thus she has completed three decades as a dubbing artist. Malini Sharma in Raaz and Manisha Koirala in Dushmani are her noted Bollywood works. In fact Manisha used to give contact number of Namrata to the producers for whom she could not dub. She also dubbed for Juhi Chawla for a few of her popular Kurkure ads.

She has acted in a couple of Hindi movies in the past. She played the role of Mohini in 1993 film, Bedardi, followed by an additional role in 1994 film, Vaade Iraade. When Indian Idol – India’s first singing reality show was launched in Sony television, she was associated with its Radio Channel promos in 2004. Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin is one of her noted Hollywood project (to Hindi) as a dubbing artist.
