Nagendra Prasad (choreographer) Biography

Nagendra Prasad is a popular choreographer associated with south Indian film industry. The youngest son of dance master Mugur Sundar, he is also the younger brother of popular actors cum dancers, Prabhu Deva and Raju Sundaram. Noticed first in the song picturisation of ‘Humma Humma’ in Bombay, aside Sonali Bandre, he made his acting debut through 2001 Kannada romance film – Chitra directed by Dinesh Babu. Rekha Vedavyas played his female lead and the musical was declared a blockbuster. He was also seen in the picturisation of top Tamil chartbuster of 2000 – Thaniye from the movie Rhythm. Currently he is planning to make a comeback to Kannada cinema almost 15 years after his debut flick. The movie is titled - 'Mareyuva Munna', produced by Kumar and directed by Supreeth Shankar Ratna.

 

His full name is Nagendra Prasad Sundaram. He is the less-known brother of talented choreographer-director Prabhu Deva. Nagendra is also an amazing dancer, though he has kept a low profile. Seen in the song sequence of chartbuster Rahman songs like ‘Humma Humma’ and ‘Thaniye’, he occasionally appears on silver screen since 1995. He was also seen in a song sequence of Minnale and a few more movies. He has also choreographed for a few Tamil movies like Minnale, Ninaivirukkum Varai, Chocolate, Jeans etc.

 

Currently Nagendra has opened a dance school in Chennai and has named after his father as MSM (M Sundaram Master) dance school. Most recently he has choreographed one song sequence for Bollywood film – Rowdy Rathore, directed by his brother Prabhudeva. Nagendra took a break from acting, as he wanted to become a director. He was inspired by his brother Prabhudeva who advised him to study direction. Nagendra completed a direction course in London and has assisted his brother in a few Bollywood films like Rowdy Rathore. Now he is to make a comeback as an actor with the Kannada film - 'Mareyuva Munna'.
