Naga Chaitanya is an Indian film actor who appears in the films of Telugu language. He belongs to the family of filmy background and has won awards for his very first film Josh released on 3rd September 2009.
Naga Chaitanya was born on 23rd November 1986 in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. His father is the popular actor in Telugu Akkineni Nagarjuna and his mother is his first wife Lakshmi Daggubati. His paternal grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao and his maternal grandfather Daggubati Ramanaidu were important person in the film industry. His uncle Daggubati Venkatesh and his cousins Rana Daggubati, Sumanth Yarlagadda and Sushanth are also active in the film industry as actors.
Though he hailed from Hyderabad, he came to Chennai after his parents were separated. Amala Akkineni is his step mother who was a popular actress. His half brother Akhil Akkineni is also appearing in films as child actor. Naga Chaitanya lived with his mother but often visited his father at Hyderabad. He completed his schooling at PSBB School in Chennai. He was a guitar and drums player when he was at school.
Everyone was anticipating his film debut but initially he did not want to become an actor. Later he changed his mind and got training from an acting school in Mumbai. Then he went to Hollywood Studios in California to undertake classes in dance and fights. He wanted to be thorough in these things before he made his film debut.
He was introduced to the film industry during the audio launch program of his father’s film King. He paired with Karthika Nair in his debut film Josh. Though this film received some negative reviews, he was able to bag some awards.
He worked with actress Samantha in the film Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010 which was the remake of the Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and this was a great commercial success. Some of the films that he has acted include Josh, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, Ye Maaya Chesave, 100% Love, Dhada, Bejawada, etc.
