Nag Ashwin Biography

Nag Ashwin is a film director and screenwriter associated with Telugu entertainment industry. Ashwin began his film industry career as an assistant director for the film Nenu Meeku Telusa...? After doing a few projects, he marked his directorial debut with the short film, Yaadon Ki Baraat in 2013 produced by his wife, Priyanka Dutt, a member of a filmy family. Priyanka Dutt is a well-known film producer of Telugu film industry. She is the daughter of well-known producer and distributor C. Ashwini Dutt. His sister-in-law Swapna Dutt is also a film producer. Ashwini Dutt is the founder of Vyjayanthi Movies. Yevade Subramanyam is his first movie as a film director.

Nag Aswin hails from Hyderabad, Telangana. He studied in Hyderabad Public School and did his graduation in Mass Communication and Journalism. In 2010, he got married to Priyanka Dutt, daughter of producer C. Ashwini Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies, and joint hands with them for several movies. He is active in the industry since 2008 working as an assistant under a few directors like Sekhar Kammula.

Aswin marked his directorial debut with the short film, Yaadon Ki Baraat in 2013 produced by his wife, Priyanka Dutt. The short film was screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, and received acclaim. Dutt Sisters revived Swapna Cinema in 2014 and the first attempt under this banner, Yevade Subramanyam was declared hit in box office. It was Aswin’s directorial venture as a feature film director. Frequently associated with new sensation, Vijay Devarakonda of Arjun Reddy fame, Yevade Subramanyam starred Vijay in the lead role. The upcoming venture is Mahanadi which also stars Vijay Devarakonda in lead role. The movie is slated to release in 2018.
