Murali Mohan Biography

Murali Mohan is an Indian film actor and producer from Telugu cinema. He is also an active politician and belongs to Telugu Desam Party of Andhra Pradesh. He contested in the 15th loksabha elections in 2009, but lost to Indian National Congress candidate Vundavalli Aruna Kumar by just 2147 votes. His father Maganti Madhava Rao was an Indian freedom fighter. He is a keen social activist, visionary and founder of “Murali Mohan Charitable Trust”. His mission is to fund education initiatives of poor communities. His trust has adopted nearly 1000 students of Engineering & Medicine giving free course, based on merit marks. He is also known as a businessman.

He was born in Chataparru, Andhra Pradesh on June 24, 1940. His father Maganti Madhava Rao was an Indian freedom fighter. He did his schooling in Eluru. In 1963 he started his own business dealing in electrical motors and oil engines. He started acting in stage dramas & theatre in Vijayawada as a hobby. In 1973, Murali Mohan debut big screen with "Jagame Maya" which received a positive response. Yet he had to struggle a lot in the industry. Famous director Narayana Rao Dasari cast him in the film "Tirupati" (1974) and impressed by his performance, casted him in 40 more films. Thus he established as a good actor of the industry. He wrapped up his business and shifted to Chennai in 1975 to completely concentrate in movies.

Between 1975 and 1985, his career was at its peak and he acted over 350 films. He is the first person to act in Television serials from the Telugu film industry. With early 1990’s, he shifted to character roles. He served in various positions in National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the regional Film Development Corporation (FDC) in Andhra Pradesh. Later he involved with active politics as well.
