Murali Gopy Biography

Murali Gopy is a noted screenwriter, actor, author, singer and journalist of Malayalam cinema. He is the son of legendary Malayalam actor, Bharat Gopi. He debut big screen with Rasikan released in 2004 and later appeared in several movies like Bhramaram, Gadhama, Ee Adutha Kaalathu, Thappana, Left Right Left, Kanyaka talkies and Vedivazhipadu. 1 by two and Naku Penda Naku Taka are his upcoming movies. He is mostly known for negative shaded roles and has won several awards for best anti-hero, playback singer, screenwriter as well as best story and supporting actor.

He was born as the son of legendary film actor Bharath Gopi and Jayalakshmy on 4 March 1972 in Thiruvananthapuram. As an actor, he debut with the movie, Rasikan in 2004. For the same movie, he rendered his voice for the song, ‘Chaanju nikkana’. After a short break he appeared on the silver screen for Blessy’s Bhramaram in 2009. He played the supporting role of Dr.Alex Varghese, which won him the 2009 Sathyan Memorial Film Award. In 2012, he won Asianet Film Award for The Best Villain for his performance in Thappana.

As a scriptwriter, his noted movie was Ee Adutha Kaalathu (2012), directed by Arun Kumar Aravind, which won him numerous awards. He won Mohan Raghavan Foundation Award and Nana Film Award for the Best Script. It also won NETPAC Award for Best Malayalam Film, P. Bhaskaran Foundation Award for The Best Story and six Asiavision Movie Awards, including The New Sensation in Script. This script is regarded as a trendsetter of Malayalam cinema. He garnished several awards as a supporting actor also for the same movie. It was followed by his next surprise, Left Right Left released in 2013. He received good reviews for its powerful script. Murali is also known as a writer and has published a few books.
