Mukesh Gautam Biography

Mukesh Gautam is a very successful film director associated with Punjabi cinema. As a director he is best known for his works - Ek Noor (2011) and Akhiyaan Udeekdian (2009).Very popular actress and model of Vicky Donar & Kaabil fame, Yami Gautam is his daughter. His second daughter Surilie Gautam has also worked in films and television. Mukesh currently serves as the vice president of the PTC Punjabi network. He acquired the rights of the very popular Punjabi entertainment channel in the year 2008. He also directed the popular show, India’s Most Wanted.

Apart from a very popular celebrity associated with Punjabi cinema, Mukesh is also known for his unique contributions to create docudramas of several spiritual leaders and also leading faces of Punjab entertainment industry. He documented the life and contributions of Baba Sheikh Farid, Baba Bulleh Shah, Waris Shah etc. He also created docudramas of Punjabi singers like Gurmeet Bawa, Surjit Bindrakhia, Surinder Kaur, Kuldip Manak etc.

Mukesh Gautam started off his career as an actor in the early 1980s. He was seen in brief roles in Bollywood films like Sparsh in an uncredited role. Later he moved to direction field. In a career spanning to more than two decades in Punjabi cinema, this veteran director is known for dealing with real subjects. Ek Noor (2011) is one among his highly acclaimed recent projects which highlighted the message of organ donation. The Punjabi movie largely adapted from Ranjit Chandra's life, received warm response from critics and audience alike.

His daughter Yami Gautam is a very popular face of Bollywood cinema. She has also done a few movies down south. His second daughter Surilie Gautam is married to Jasraj Singh Bhatti, the son of legendary comedy actor Jaspal Bhatti.
