Mohini Biography

Mohini is a beautiful south Indian actress who has worked in Malayalam and Tamil movies during 1990’s. Her best movies include Maaya ponmaan, Parinayam, Ghazal and Naadodi in Malayalam and a few hit movies, Unakkake pirenthein, Nadodi paattukaran and Naan pesa ninappathellam in Tamil. She has also acted in a couple of Hindi movies as well as Telugu and Kannada, though a few in number. She is proficient in speaking 5 south Indian languages and now she is settled in United States along with her family. The movie ‘Parinayam’ of M.T.Vasudevan Nair – Hariharan team is considered as the milestone movie of Mohini’s Malayalam film career. Story tells the miserable life led by a young Brahmin widow in Hindu homes.

She was born in a Tamil Brahmin family. She started her career through Tamil movies from early 90’s. Her debut movie was ‘Eeramaana Rojave’ opposite Siva in the year 1991. She was only 13 that time and she discontinued her studies to fully concentrate in movies. Later on, she began to work in Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi as well as Telugu movies. She has worked in a couple of Hindi movies – Dancer opposite Akshay Kumar was one such. Her Kannada movies include Gadibidi Aliya, Laali, Nishabya and Sri Rama Chandra and her leading Telugu movies include Aditya (her debut movie), Detective Narada and Mama Bagunnavaa. Her Tamil movies include Cheran Chozhan Pandiyan (a comedy flick), Viswanath, Antha naal and Jameen Kottai.

It can be noticed that she fully concentrated on to Malayalam movies during middle 90’s; she was successful too. Till middle 90’s, she was successfully paired with Vineeth in movies like Parinayam and Gazal. After middle 90’s, she was successfully paired with Dileep in a series of hit movies like Maya ponmaan, Punjaabi house, Ullasapoonkaattu, Pranaya Nilavu and Kudumba kodathi. In most of these movies, comedy was the main essence and Punjabi House was a blockbuster that was later remade to Hindi as Chup Chupke. Her hit movies opposite Mamootty are Sainyam, Vesham and Oru maravathur kanavu. In Maravathur Kanavu, she was paired opposite Biju Menon. Her comic flick based on ‘elephant theme’ opposite Jayaram ‘Pattabhishekam’ was a huge hit in 1999. She returned to movies after a break with Mohanlal movie – Innathe Chinthavishayam where she played the role of a separated wife, along with her two friends. Her other Malayalam movies include Ayushman Bhava, Ee puzhayum kadannu and Meenakshi kalyanam.
