Meenakshi Thapar Biography

Meenakshi Thapar was a Bollywood actress who was kidnapped and brutally murdered by her co-actors for money. This Nepali actress made her Bollywood debut through critically acclaimed movie, ‘404: Error Not Found’ in 2011 and was also casted in supporting role in Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Heroine’ in 2012. She was kidnapped from the film sets of ‘Heroine’ by an actor of the same movie Amit Jaiswal, and his girlfriend, Preeti Surin. They demanded an amount of about 10 lakhs. Though her mother gave her 60,000 rupees, Meenakshi was beheaded by her kidnappers. Later the murderers were caught. But this incident shocked the whole Bollywood.

Meenakshi Thapa was born on 4 October 1984 in Nepal. She made her acting debut in the 2011 Hindi psychological thriller – 404, where she played the supporting role of a medical student and the best friend of its lead actor, Rajvvir Aroraa. In April 2012, she was shooting for the movie, Heroine directed by Madhur Bhandarkar when she got kidnapped from the film sets. An actor, who played a bit role in the movie, happened to overhear her conversation to the family discussing her family wealth. Amit Jaiswal, with the help of his girlfriend kidnapped her and held for ransom. They asked her family a handsome amount for her release.

Though her mother gave them 60,000 rupees, they beheaded her and parts of her body hurled from a moving train. Later Amit took Thapar's mobile phone sim card which proved to be the turning point of the crime. Both were arrested and Amit admitted the crime as well. Thapa was only 26 when she was brutally murdered.
