Manoj Paramahamsa Biography

Manoj Paramahamsa is a successful cinematographer from south Indian film industry. He works in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam language films. Manoj hails from Tamil Nadu. He has worked as an assistant in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industry in the 2000s, before he turned a full-fledged cinematographer with critically acclaimed and successful Tamil film, Eeram released in 2009. He also bagged Vijay award and South Scope Cine Award for Best Cinematography. The following year he bagged best cinematographer at Filmfare awards for Telugu film, Ye Maaya Chesave. He is best known for his regular collaboration with ace director Gautham Menon.

Manoj Paramahamsa was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu into a family with filmy background. His father UV Babu has directed more than 6 films in Telugu. Yet his father wanted Manoj to become a cinematographer. During his younger days, Manoj used to visit shooting locations of his father and got fascinated with camera and lights since then. Later to pursue a career in this field, he enrolled at M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute of Tamil Nadu at Chennai, where he received training from S. Saravanan.

After studies he joined film industry as an assistant cinematographer and worked in a series of movies before he turned an independent cinematographer for Eeram (2009). He gave the entire film a hazy blue look using Cyan color by the removal of red from white light, and it was for for the first time such an experiment was done in Tamil cinema. Since then he is fully active in this field. He worked with Gautham menon for the first time in 2010 flick, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and its Telugu remake Ye Maaya Chesave, Nadunisi Naaygal etc. Nanban, Semmozhiyaana Thamizh Mozhiyaam, Kick 2, Villain (Malayalam), Dhruva Natchathiram etc are a few more works.
