Manju Swaraj Biography

Manju Swaraj is a well-known screenwriter and director associated with Kannada cinema. He is associated with film industry since 2005, and has directed 4 movies up-to-date. Perhaps he is best known for the movie, Shravani Subramanya released in 2013. The movie ran for 100 days and was declared a blockbuster. Marked his directorial debut with Shishira in 2009, Shravani Subramanya (2013), Srikanta (2017) and Pataki (2017) are his other released films. He also scripts his movies.

 

Manju Swaraj hails from Mysore, Karnataka, and currently he is settled in Bangalore. He started his film journey as an assistant director under Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar in 2005. Amrithadhare was his first film as an assistant director. He worked as an assistant director for four more years in the industry, before he turned an independent film director through Shishira in 2009. The movie is based on the 2004 American psychological horror film 1408. The film got mostly positive reviews from the media. But the movie starring Prema received only limited success.

 

Manju shot to fame with his second release, a romantic comedy - Shravani Subramanya in 2013. The film featured Ganesh and Amulya in lead roles. Just like Prema in his debut flick, actress Amulya made her comeback after a hiatus through this film. The movie generally received positive reviews from critics upon its release, and ran for 100 days. After a break of four years, he released two films in 2017 back to back - Srikanta and Pataki. But both the movies couldn’t repeat the success of his blockbuster hit, Shravani Subramanya. He chose ‘S’ alphabet to coin the name of his first three films, while chose ‘P’ for the recent one.
