Maneesh Sharma Biography

Maneesh Sharma is a promising young director of Bollywood who made a magical entry to Bollywood with the hit movie – Band Baja Baarat (2010) starring Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma. The movie marked the successful debut of actor Ranveer Singh as well. His work was widely praised and he received Filmfare award for best debut director. He also received a nomination at Filmfare for best director. He has directed two more movies - Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011) and Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) with Parineeti Chopra playing the female lead. All these movies produced by Yash raj Films were commercially successful. Thus Sharma is one of the successful directors under the Yash Raj Films banner.

All his three movies up-to-date have given a promising star to Bollywood - Ranveer Singh through Band baaja barat, Parineeti Chopra through Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Vani Kapoor through Shuddh Desi Romance. He has announced his next movie with ace actors of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone and the movie has been titled – Fan. The movie is also produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films. As a film producer, he is to finance his first movie in Bollywood, Dum Laga Ke Haisha with Ayushmann Khurrana playing the main lead.

He was born and brought up in Delhi. He was involved in theatre during his college days at Delhi and he shot his first film in the year 2010, as a student. He got associated with a theatre group and also worked as a dancer in a musical troupe before he moved to Mumbai. Later he assisted many directors under Yash Raj films for movies like Fanaa, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi etc and made his debut through Band baaja baarat in 2010. His movies have always being noticed for the sizzling chemistry and steaming scenes between its lead pair.
