Mahesh Aney Biography

Mahesh Aney is an Indian cinematographer associated with Bollywood. He is also an ad film maker who owns an ad production company. As a cinematographer he is best known for the work of Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades: We, the People, which bagged him National award for best cinematographer. He has also been associated with many popular television commercials. Mahesh Aney is married to Anjali Aney and the couple is settled in Mumbai right now with two kids. He owns an ad production company right now which has produced more than 50 commercials till now. Some of them include some leading brands like Coca Cola, Vicks, Onida TV, Nivea cream etc.

He took a diploma in cinematography from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune and started his career with television commercials. He shot ads of many popular commercials of   Pepsi, Kellogg's, Tata Steel, Feviqik, Maggie noodles etc. Later he got associated with many successful television shows like Movers & Shakers, Bindaas Bol, Kya Masti Kya Dhoom, Wajood etc before moving to Bollywood. God Only Knows! directed by Bharat Dabholkar in 2004 marked his debut. Manisha Koirala starrer Tum: A Dangerous Obsession was one of his noticed first works.

He shot to fame after doing camera work for Shah Rukh Khan starrer Swades in 2004. The movie bagged him his maiden National award for best cinematography category. The Coffin Maker, Don't Stop Dreaming, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi and The Hangman are other noted works. He has also been associated with some documentaries like Celluloid Man. Dr. Prakash Baba Amte-The real Hero and Pitruroon are his latest works.
