Mahesh (malayalam Actor) Biography

Mahesh is a Malayalam actor who works in movies as well as television. He also works in Tamil and Hindi movies. He entered acting field through television serials in the early 1990s, and later moved to movies. He mostly portrays character roles onscreen, and his roles include both positive and negative shades. He has also written dialogues, screenplays and directed a few movies as well. Yet he is familiar to audience as a character artist. He wrote the dialogues of Ashwaroodan in 2007. Lakshyam, Honey Bee 2, Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, Marubhoomiyile Aana etc are some of his recent works. Nowadays he mostly essays negative roles.

Mahesh hails from Ettumanoor, Kottayam. But he was born to his parents, P K Padmanabhan Nair and Padmakumari while they were settled in Tanzania. The family moved back to India in the 1970s and settled down in Alleppey near to Udaya Studio which attracts him to the film industry. He started off as an assistant director for the director J. Sasikumar in the early 1980s. But later he moved on to acting field which gave him limited success. Mudra directed by Sibi Malayil marked his acting debut in 1987. He was seen in a supporting role. Mrugaya, Sadayam and Vyooham are some of his noted appearances during this period.

In the early 1990s, when serials started in Doordarshan, he appeared in several popular serials. In those days serials used to have only 13 episodes with 20-25 minutes, and Mahesh was regular in many of them. He played lead, supporting as well as negative roles, and became a household name. He took a break in the late 1990s and went to United States and settled there. He returned in 2006 and made his directorial debut with Calendar, 2 years later. Since then he is fully active in entertainment field, carrying different genres of roles – actor, screenwriter, director etc.
