Lloyd Owen Biography

Lloyd Owen is an English actor from London, England, who works in movies, theater and television. In 2018 he marks his Bollywood debut with the high budget film, Thugs of Hindostan starring Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. He plays the antagonist in the much anticipated movie of 2018. He started off his career in the mid-1980s in theatre, and later moved on to movies as well as television shows. He is a trained theatre actor, and immensely successful as a stage actor too. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Closer, The York Realist, Paul etc are some of his major plays which brought him to the first league of stage actors.

 

His full name is Richard Lloyd Owen. He was born on 14 April 1966 in Charing Cross, London. Both his parents are from Wales. Yet he was born and brought up in London. His younger sister is the actress Cathy Owen. Since young he got exposed to the world of theater, and he was brought up in an atmosphere around Royal Court Theatre. His father is an actor. For the same reason, during his school days, many of his friends and teachers thought that he is also an actor, though young Owen was not at all interested in this field. But soon after school, at the age of 16 he joined National Youth Theatre, and also received training from Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London.

 

Throughout 1980s he was associated with theatre. His first big break happened in television in early 1990s, when he received the role of Professor Dr. Henry Jones in eight episodes of the TV series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles in 1992 and 1993. It was followed by Monarch of the Glen as Paul Bowman-MacDonald, The Innocence Project as Professor Jon Ford, and many more works. He also acted in many feature films and short films.
