Kumud Mishra Biography

Kumud Mishra is a film actor known for playing supporting roles in Bollywood movies. He is a very famous theater actor too. Noted theatre artist and character artist of Hindi cinema, Ayesha Raza Mishra, the grand-niece of theater & film personalities, Zohra Sehgal and Uzra Butt is his wife. Kumud Mishra too is a leading name in Bollywood film industry at present, and owns a series of memorable character roles. He is best known for playing the supporting role of Khatana in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar co-starring Ranbir Kapoor.

 

After playing less-significant roles in several movies, his role in Rockstar brought him to limelight. After that he added a few more memorable roles such as Filmistaan, Rukh, Tiger Zinda Hai, Revolver Rani, Jolly LLB 2, Raanjhanaa, Badlapur, Bangistan and Airlift to his portfolio. Kumud Mishra is now a familiar face in Bollywood cinema. Currently he is one of the best and versatile actors of the contemporary Indian stage too. Kumud is married to actress Ayesha Raza, and the couple has one son.

 

Kumud completed his school education from Rashtriya Military School Belgaum, Karnataka. Kumud Mishra first got hooked to the theatre in the military school while doing his schooling. Kumud received initial guidance from two teachers, Pathare and Janardhan, who played a significant role in shaping his career interests. They acted as his mentors too. Later, after completing schooling he moved to Bhopal and joined college as an Arts’ student.

 

He was fully engaged in theater this time, and worked under theater personalities like Alok Nandan, Bansi Kaul, Alok Chaterjee, John Martin, Sachin Tiwari and Irfan Saurabh. He also worked for Prabhat Ganguly’s, ‘The Little Ballet Theatre’ and participated in the Festival of India in USSR in 1989. He joined NSD the following year. He also appeared for a screen test for Shyam Benegal’s The Making of the Mahatma. His first appearance for a Bollywood film happened in 1996 National award winning film, Sardari Begum, and occasionally worked in films after that. Yet his career took off after Rockstar happened.
