Karthick Naren Biography

Karthick Naren is a budding and extremely talented young filmmaker associated with Tamil cinema. In 2016, he marked his directorial debut with neo-noir crime thriller film, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru starring Rahman in the leading role. He also scripted this film which was praised by critics. This small-budget film opened to extremely positive response from critics and mouth to mouth opinion also favoured the film and made it a blockbuster of 2016. Actor Rahman who has been associated with cine field since 1980s received his first solo blockbuster through the Tamil film, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru. The movie also boosted his film journey to great extent, who mostly played character roles in the past 15 years or so.

Karthick Naren hails from Ooty. He was born on 23rd July 1994. It’s quite surprising that Naren was only 22 years old when he shocked the film industry with his debut venture, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, which he scripted as well. The movie included a bundle of less known actors or newcomers, and the lead actor Rahman was also going through a rough patch for the past few years. The movie received unanimous praises from film fraternity including directors and music composers.

Movie was initially released in 95 screens. After receiving positive reviews from audience and critics, film’s earning shoot up and later the movie screening was extended to 160 screens. The film was moved from smaller halls to multiplexes of big cities and finally declared a "multiplex super hit". The film completed its 100 days on April 6, 2017. In 2017, Karthick Naren announced that his upcoming directorial venture Naragasooran. It would be the second of a "thriller trilogy" of films that began with Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, starring Aravind Swamy, Shriya Saran, Sundeep Kishan and Indrajith in the lead roles.
