Karan Malhotra Biography

Karan Malhotra is an upcoming director of Bollywood who has delivered decent hits at box office like Brothers (2015) and Agneepath (2012). Agneepath was the official remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s cult classic movie with the same with Hrithik Roshan playing the lead role. Though the movie received mixed response from critics it was a box office hit. His next venture was Brothers in 2015, a film based on Mixed Martial arts (MMA) with Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead roles. The movie with excellent reviews from critics was a super hit too. Karan is associated with Dharma productions for many years. He is married to Ekta Pathak Malhotra, a writer who assists him in his work.

He was born in Mumbai Maharashtra. He started off as an assistant director in 2006 and has worked for the movies - Jodhaa Akbar, My Name Is Khan and Jaan-E-Mann. Agneepath (2012) with dharma Productions marked his directorial debut. The movie starred Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. Brothers (2015) was his second movie. His wife co-scripted the movie. The director didn’t have any knowledge about Martial arts before. He prepared for it, as a part of his work.

Shhuddhi is one of the much awaited and anticipated movies in the recent times, which has brought several hot discussions. In March 2013, producer Karan Johar officially announced the project. The movie is to star young actors Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. It’s an original screenplay written by his wife and not adapted from any book. The Immortals of Meluha is another project in pipeline, which the couple is working on script right now.
