Kamlesh Pandey Biography

Kamlesh Pandey is a pioneer in Indian advertising field who has a long experience of more than 30 years since 1970. He is a successful screenwriter and dialogue writer too who has been associated with many commercial Bollywood films. Kamlesh Pandey started writing films since 1987 and has written over 40 films. Tezaab, Saudagar and Rang de basanti are among hi major film scripts which earned him several film awards and nominations and these movies were major hits and trendsetters of Bollywood too. Tezaab won him Filmfare awards for best dialogue writer, while Saudagar earned him Star Screen Awards and Rang de basanti received IIFA award for best screenplay, which he scripted aside Rensil D'Silva and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. He also wrote the story of this highly appreciated film.

Kamlesh Pandey started his career in the ad field in the year 1970. He started off as a copywriter with Hindustan Thompson Associates, and has later worked with Saachi & Saachi, Grant Advertising Pvt. Ltd and Rediffusion Advertising Pvt. Ltd moving to higher positions. He had a long term association with Rediffusion Advertising Pvt. Ltd, where he worked during the period 1976 to 1992. He has been closely associated with many leading brands as a part of his ad work. He won the Best Copywriter of the Year Award in 1978 since its inception and received the same award for the next three years. He is a recipient of the prestigious CAG Hall of Fame for the year 2005.

Since 1987 he started writing story, dialogue and script for Bollywood films. He also wrote several scripts for television. He has been a member of several film associations and is a visiting teacher at Subhash Ghai's Whistlingwoods. Investigation thriller – Karamchand, Kachchi Dhoop and Naqab are among his major TV works as a scriptwriter. Pandey joined Zee TV as Head of Programming in the year 1992 and worked with it for next three years. Currently he writes TV serial scripts.
