Kamalakara Kameswara Rao Biography 
Kamalakara Kameswara Rao was an Indian film director who predominantly worked in Telugu cinema. He is fondly called Pouraanika Chitra Brahma, and also addressed as K. Kameswara Rao. He has also done a few Hindi and Tamil films, and is best known for his contributions towards Telugu cinema. Many of his films have won state and national awards in different categories. His biographical film, Mahakavi Kalidasu won National award for best regional film in Telugu in 1960. Gundamma Katha, Mahamantri Timmarusu and Nartanasala are other acclaimed works of this renowned director, who lived during the period, 14 October 1911 – 29 June 1998.
Kamalakara Kameswara Rao was born on 4 October 1911 in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He graduated from Noble College, Machilipatnam, and then worked as a film journalist for a few years before he forayed into film direction. He worked with Krishna Patrika between 1934 and 1937, and his film reviews were highly appreciated. He was invited by film producer and director H. M. Reddy to come to Chennai, where he began his film journey. He started his film career as an assistant director in Chennai in 1938 and worked under renowned filmmakers, K. V. Reddy, Moola Narayana Swamy, Bomireddi Narasimha Reddy, Kadiri Venkata Reddy etc for many years throughout 1940s.
As a film director, he got his first break through Vijaya Pictures’ Chandraharam in 1954. He left the production house the following year and worked under many famous banners later. He has directed about 30 films in a career spanning to three decades. Nartanasala (1963) is regarded as his masterpiece work. He passed away on June 29, 1998 in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh aged 86.
