Jiyen Krishnakumar Biography

Jiyen Krishnakumar is a film director and screenwriter who works in Malayalam cinema and television. As of now, he has directed only three movies since 2010 – College Days (2010), Kaanchi (2013) and Tiyaan (2017). Among the three releases, Tiyaan starring Prithviraj in the lead role fared well at box office, though it was not a huge hit. He scripted his debut film, College Days released in 2010. The movie starring an ensemble cast of Indrajith, Riyan, Govind Padmasoorya, Sajid Lal, Bhama, Dhanya Mary Varghese, Sandhya, Biju Menon and Bhama was a revenge saga produced by Chandrakantham Films. He has directed more than 10 television serials.

Jiyen Krishnakumar hails from Poojappura in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. K. Gopi Nathan Nair and T. Nalinakumari are his parents, and he has one brother. He is married to Priyanka Krishnan since 2011 and the couple has one child. His early education was done from Thiruvananthapuram itself, and later he took graduation from Christian College, Kattakada, Thiruvananthapuram. Jiyen started his film career as an assistant director to T. S. Suresh Babu. Later he worked in television field as a director. He has directed more than 10 television serials, apart from doing three Malayalam films in the past 8 years.

College Days released in 2010 marked his directorial debut in films. His second film Kaanchi released in 2013 went unnoticed. He came to limelight once again when he teamed up with the siblings – Prithviraj and Indrajeet for the action thriller film, Tiyaan in 2017. He has earlier worked with Indrajeet for his debut flick College Days, where the actor played the lead role. The high expense film opened to mixed reviews from film critics.
