Jaideep Ahlawat Biography

Jaideep Ahlawat is a Bollywood film actor known for character roles. Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur and Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetta are his most noticed roles. He played a negative role in Khatta Meeta, for which he got recognition first. Aatma, Aakrosh, Rock star, Vishwaroopam and Chittagong are other noted appearances. He played the role of Salim in Kamal Hassan’s bi-lingual Vishwaroopam and he is to appear in its sequel as well.

He was born in Kharkara village of Rohtak, Haryana. He wanted to be an army officer in the beginning, but somehow that did not happen. After a short period he started doing theater and got interested to it. That’s why he joined FTII, Pune soon after Post-graduation in English. He was active in cultural events and plays during his college days. He graduated FTII in the year in 2008. He seriously thought about acting only after his PG. Sunil Chitkara, associated with NSD was one among those who encouraged him to become an actor. He made Jaideep realise his acting potential and this Jaideep started reading classic works. It was on Sunil’s insistence he joined FTII.

After graduation from FTII in 2008, he reached Mumbai the same year. Yet it was not a catwalk for him to get film roles. He auditioned for Aakrosh and got selected too. He played the character role of Pappu Tiwari in his debut movie. However Khatta Meeta was his first release which got him noticed too. Both the movies were directed by Priyadarshan. Chittagong and Gangs Of Wasseypur just happened to him and changed his life forever. He played a guest character in Rock star – a Haryanavi character called Trilok who runs family business.
