Harisree Ashokan Biography

Harisree Ashokan is a very popular comedy actor of Malayalam. Since 90’s, he has became an indispensible part of Malayalam comedy movies and through his performance in movies like, Ee parakkum thalika, CID Moosa and Aniyathi pravu, he has been added to the best comedy stars category of Malayalam all times. He has acted in more than 100 films till now and his distinct style of dialogue delivery and flexibility in acting and body language are his plus points. He has worked in numerous hit comedies along with Dileep of which Ee parakkum thalika, Punjabi house and CID Moosa need special mention. Their chemistry in Ee parakkum thalika, telling the story of an old bus was one of their best to be noted too. They have also worked together in Chess, Crazy gopalan, Twenty: 20, Moz and Cat, Pranaya Nilavu, Runway, Kochi rajavu, Rakshasa Rajav, Kuberan, Maanathe kottaram, Inspector Garud, Meesa Madhavan, Udayapuram Sulthan, Deepasthambham Mahascharyam, Passenger, Colours, Body guard, Karyasthan, Thilakkam and Ee Puzhayum Kadannu. 

Harisree Ashokan was born on April 6, 1964. Asokan was always interested in acting and was an amateur theatre actor. He entered Malayalam through a small role in the movie, Pappan priyapetta pappan (1986). Director Siddique casted him in his debut movie as a director – Ramjo Rao speaking (1990). It was a bit role of a man on telephone and his voice too was dubbed by someone else. Later he gave him a role in Godfather (1992). In 1994, he became a part of two successful movies – Maanathe kottaram and Vadhu doctor aanu. Maanathe kottaram was one of the earliest movies of Dileep and for the first time, Ashokan worked with him in this movie. 

He began to get a few more assignments and was active in the industry 1996 and 1997 through small roles. Yet no such role was a lengthy one. It was through Fazil’s Aniyathipravu that Harisree emerged as a comedy star of Malayalam. It was his first big break and after that he never turned back. He played the role of Chippayi - Kunchacko Boban’s friend, along with Sudheesh. He carries excellent association with Kunchacko Boban as well delivering movies like Hridayathil Sookshikkan, Chanda mama and Satyam sivam sundaram. His other memorable roles are Chronic bachelor, Chandamama, Thuruppu Gulan, Bavuttiyude naamathil, Vajram, Mampazha kaalam, Balettan, Pulivaal kalyanam and Oomapenninu uriyada payyan.
