Gundu Hanumantha Rao Biography 
Gundu Hanumantha Rao is a popular character artist who predominantly works in Telugu cinema. Quite successful in comic roles, this veteran actor has spent almost three decades in the film industry and is active still now. Currently also known as a politician associated with Telugu Desam Party, he frequently joins rallies held by the party and adds comic elements to it. He has also acted in a few popular television serials. Made his film debut with1987 movie - Aha Naa Pellanta directed by Jandhyala, he gained popularity as a comedian over the years. He is also a recipient of three Nandi awards.
His full name is Gundu Hanumantha Rao. He has been a theatre artist before his foray to films. Aha Naa Pellanta was his debut film and since then he has portrayed hundreds of character roles on screen. 1992 movie Pellaniki Premalekha Priyuraliki Subhalekha was one of his major breaks as a comedian. He has also excelled in character/comic roles for the movies - Kalyanam, Original, Sri Sai Sankalpam, Mano Balam, Jodi No.1, Nenu Seetamahalakshmi, Kedi No.1, Rajendradu Gajendradu, Apparao Driving School, High School, Pappu, Kothoka Vintha, NRI, Colors, Neramu Siksha, Panchamukhi, Mayaloodu etc. Among his television roles, Amrutham is most popular.
During his younger days, Rao used to supply papad packets to kirana shops on his bicycle. Whenever he got spare time, he used to participate in street dramas. Got success with late 1980s in films, he ruled the industry in the 1990s. Vinodham in 1996 is one of his memorable characters in the 1990s. His wife passed away in 2010. Currently, apart from portraying character roles onscreen he participates in rallies of TDP. Sri Sai Sankalpam and Mano Balam are his latest releases.
