Guddu Dhanoa Biography

Guddu Dhanoa is a film director and producer associated with Bollywood and Punjab films. He is known for directing action thrillers in Bollywood. Ziddi (1997) starring Sunny Deol and Raveena Tandon is one among his most successful films. He also made highly acclaimed biopic film on Bhagat Singh -  23rd March 1931: Shaheed (2002) starring Bobby Deol. Earlier he has done one action film with Bobby Deol and Rani Mukherji – Bichoo in 2000 which did average business at box office. Now Guddu has announced the sequel of this movie. Elaan (1994), Gundaraj (1995), Tu Chor Main Sipahi (1996), Salaakhen (1998), Hawa (2003), Jaal: The Trap (2003), Kismat (2004), Siskiyaan (2005), Sheesha (2005), Big Brother (2007), etc are a few more Bollywood flicks of Guddu. He is quite successful with Sunny Deol.

Guddu Dhanoa entered film scene as a film producer. The movie was Hindi super hit Deewana in 1992, which established the careers of both Shah Rukh Khan and Divya Bharati. It was one of the early releases of Shah Rukh Khan, apart from Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, King Uncle and Maya Meimsaab. In 1994 he made his directorial debut with the action flick – Elaan starring Akshay Kumar and Madhoo. But the movie was a flop. It was followed by a series of flop action movies - Gundaraj starring Ajay Devgan and Kajol, Tu Chor Main Sipahi starring Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar etc. In 1997, Ziddi was released. It success consolidated Dhanoa’s position in the industry. But once again he lost his grip somewhere.

From the movies released later, he achieved success through 2007 movie Big Brother starring Sunny Deol and Shilpa Shetty. The movie was released after the success of Shilpa Shetty in an international reality show with the same name. In 2011 he directed the Punjabi film - The Lion Of Punjab, which earned him recognition in the Punjabi film industry. The movie starred Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role. Ramta Jogi (2015) is his latest Punjabi release.
