Girish Kulkarni Biography

Girish Kulkarni’s full name is Girish Pandurang Kulkarni. He is a film actor, producer and writer who concentrate most for Marathi movies. Valu, Vihir and Deool are his most noted movies. He won National award for best actor in the year 2011, for the movie Deool. He won National Film Award for Best Screenplay (Best Dialogue) for exactly the same film also.

 

Girish Kulkarni is an actor from Solapur, Maharashtra. He was brought up in Pune. He holds Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. While he studied his diploma course from Latur, he was involved in local stage plays. He started his professional career in a private company too, but stopped it to join movies. He started his career as a scriptwriter of movies. Later he stepped into acting. Before that he worked with Radio Mirchi FM Channel as cluster programming head. As an actor, Valu released in the year 2008 was his debut movie. It was followed by Gabhricha Paus, Gandha and Vihir in the year 2009. The tragic story of Gabhricha Paus revolves around a poor farmer, miseries and financial problems. Vihir is a quest of the secrets hiding behind the universal truths of nature – birth and death. He wrote the scripts of both these movies also; he produced the movie Valu, that happened to be his debut movie.

 

It was Deool released in 2011 which brought him critical acclaim. He wrote its screenplay and played the lead role and both these roles helped him to earn National awards in the respective categories. This movie proved to be the real breakthrough of this actor’s film career. His recent releases as an actor are Masala released in the year 2012 and a couple of releases in 2013 – Pune 52 and the most recent one, Ugly. He wrote the script of 2012 movie, Masala also.
