Esha Deol Biography

Esha Deol is an actress who mainly appears in Hindi films. She was also a hand ball player at the state level in her college days and was a football player where she was selected for the Indian national woman`s football team. She was born on 2^nd November 1981. Her parents were famous Bollywood actors Dharmendra and Hemamalini. She has a younger sister Aahan. She is a half – sister for actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.

She has finished Masters Degree in Media Arts from Oxford University. She was a trained Odissi and Bharatanatyam dancer. She learnt Odissi under Mumbai Odissi guru Rabindra Atibuddhi. She dances classical Bharatanatyam with her mother. She is both Punjabi as well as Tamil. She used to speak Tamil with her mother and sister. She prefers to speak English and not well fluent in Hindi. She aspired to be an actress like her parents.

She started her career as an actress in the debut film Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche which won three awards for her. After releasing several unsuccessful films in 2003, she played a French teacher role in Aayutha Ezhuthu directed by Mani Ratnam. She did the same role in the hindi remake Yuva. Her first box office hit was Dhoom. Her two other hit films are Kaal and No Entry. She played a notorious role in Ram Gopal Varma`s Darling. This film gave her positive reviews.

Her mother Hemamalini herself produced and directed the film Tell Me Oh Khuda with Salman Khan. She has received Filmfare Best Debut award for her debut film Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche in 2002. She has worked in the television talk show, Koffee with Karan for three episodes. She was nominated as the Filmfare Best Villain Award for the film Ankahee in 2006.She has also made a special appearance in the films Sunday and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai.
