Dinesh Hingoo Biography

Dinesh Hingoo is a well-known character artist associated with Bollywood, best known for playing comic roles. He joined Bollywood film industry in the late 1960s, got a few good roles in the 1970s and his career reached its peak in the 1990s, where he became a part of several memorable comedy films of Bollywood. With early 2000s, he did only a few roles on big screen. He was most active in the decades of 1980s and 1990s, and some of his famous roles are Qurbani, Saajan, Baazigar, Humraaz, Kanhaiyaa, Namak Halaal, Daraar, No Entry, Dil, Judaai, Khoobsurat, Hera Pheri (2000), Phir Hera Pheri and Anubhav. He has also appeared in many serials and TV shows of Doordarshan. Chaman Jhinga in Hera Pheri is one of his most memorable roles on big screen.

Dinesh Hingoo was born in Baroda on 13 April 1940. He was first seen in Bollywood film, Taqdeer (1967) in an uncredited role. Jaise Ko Taisa released in 1973 was his first credited role, where he played the role of a cook. He got only brief roles in the 1970s and his career reached full swing in the 1980s. He became a part of many popular films of 1980s and 1990s, mostly in small comic roles. He has been associated with Doordarshan since its early days, and appeared in early ads like Zandu Pancharisht.

In a career spanning to more than 5 decades, he appeared in small and noted roles in more than 300 Bollywood films. He has also played bit comic parts in many movies. He played Parsi businessman in many movies and is known for his laughter and impersonations. He played the role of Parsi baba in the movie Qurbani, and his comic roles in No Entry, Judaai, Hera Pheri etc are also very popular.
