Dilip Sinha Biography

Dilip Sinha is a veteran Bhojpuri actor who spent more than 3 decades in Bhojpuri film industry. He is also a very successful dubbing artist, mostly associated with Hollywood films and foreign television shows to Hindi. He was one of the supporting artists of the first Bhojpuri colour film, Dangal released in 1977, whose title inspired Aamir Khan’s blockbuster later. He dabbed into dubbing when his film roles depreciated, and earned success as well.

Dilip Sinha hails from Patna, Bihar, and he was born in the year 1951. Sinha has been staying in Marina Guest House Bandra at West Mumbai for 20 years. Currently he is settled in Goregaon West, Mumbai with his family. He is married and has 2 children. Dilip started his career as a film actor through Bhojpuri movies in 1975, and he played both lead and supporting roles onscreen. He joined the star cast of Dangal in 1977, the film starring Sujith Kumar and Prema Narayan, which was a huge blockbuster. As of now, he has spent more than 4 decades in the entertainment industry. He moved to dubbing field when his film roles got scarce. Now he is one of the leading actors for dubbing senior voices for foreign language films and television shows.

Dilip is also a veteran theater artist and television actor too. When work became scant and he struggled for five years, Dilip started dubbing. Post the huge success of Jurassic Park in India in the mid-1990s, it has indeed become a paying option with more and more Hollywood films being dubbed in Hindi and other regional languages. He dubbed for Sam Neill's role as Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park. His association with Harry Potter began with the first season itself, where he gave life to the character of Hagrid. “Toofaan phir se aaney wala hai theek pichli baar ki tarha Harry” is his favourite dialogue of the series.
