Dhruv Vikram Biography

Dhruv Vikram is a budding actor associated with Tamil cinema. Dhruv is the son of very popular actor and superstar of Collywood, Vikram, who the fans fondly call Chiyaan Vikram. Dhruv Vikram is to debut Tamil film industry in a lead role in the film directed by legendary director, Bala. Dhruv is to mark his film debut through the official remake of cult classic Telugu film, Arjun Reddy originally directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The movie released in 2017 received overwhelming response from critics and was a major success. Dhruv Vikram is to reprise the role of Vijay Deverakonda played in the original.

Dhruv Vikram was born into a Tamil family in Chennai to one of the most popular stars Collywood screen has ever witnessed, Vikram. His father is a Chennaite while his mother Shailaja is a Keralite from Thalassery, and the couple married at Guruvayoor, followed by a wedding at the church at Loyola College, Chennai. Dhruv has one sister, Akshita who is engaged to Karunanidhi’s grand-grandson.

During his teens itself, Vikram has suggested that his son is a keen actor. Though there were speculations of Dhruv’s entry to films earlier, Vikram has denied the reports. In 2016 Vikran revealed about Dhruv’s acting plans, following the release of one short film. Dhruv scripted and directed this thriller short film with theme on child abuse, as a part of an assignment for Met Film School, London, where he completed a six-month course in filmmaking. The 15-minute short film titled 'Good Night Charlie' received good reviews. But Dhruv is to debut mainstream cinema as an actor, and not a filmmaker.

Till late 1990s, when Vikram was only a struggling actor who worked in all south Indian languages in less significant roles, he was given the biggest break to Tamil cinema by Bala through Sethu. The movie was a break point to Vikram’s career, and he never looked back. Almost two decades later, Vikram’s son too is to be launched to cine world by the same director. Let us hope, Bala repeats ‘Chiyaan magic’ once more.
