Dhanish Karthik Biography

Dhanish Karthik is an Indian film actor who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema. He made his film debut in the Malayalam film Ivide (2015) directed by Shyamaprasad, where he portrayed the supporting role of Sanjeev Menon. In 2017 he made his Bollywood film debut with Saif Ali Khan starrer Chef, directed by Malayali director Raja Krishna Menon. He was seen in the supporting role of Shahid Ahmed in this film. Dhanish has been active in theater prior to his entry in films.

Dhanish Karthik was born in Mancheri, Kerala on 24 July 1989. His father Nilambur Karthikeyan is a singer who has performed in stage shows and musical troupes and has worked with legendary singers like K. J. Yesudas and Madhuri. He has also done playback singing for more than 50 Malayalam songs. Karthik too has been trained music by his father. But Dhanish started off his career as a part-time actor and worked with theatre for a short period. He made his theatre debut with Bollywood Romeo directed by Radhika Vasudeva. He was seen in the role of Krishnan Ji in this stage play.

In 2010, he graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in South Asian studies. After studies he started his professional journey in the research department followed by the operations department at J.P. Morgan. But he resigned his job in July 2013 to pursue a career in acting full-time. He currently studies at Stella Adler Studio of Acting and The Peoples Improv Theater, both in New York. Dhanish has been a part of several independent English films such as The Talent, Flip, It'$ Free, JFK – Eulogy etc and also anchored the show, Dream Home Season 7.
