Devayani Biography

Devayani is a Tamil film actress who also starred in a number of Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films and few Hindi films. She was born on 22^nd June 1974 in Mumbai. Her parents are Jayadev and Lakshmi. She received many Film Awards by Tamil Nadu State and her films Kadhal Kottai and Surya Vamsam were a huge hit. Her appearance in Sun TV serial Kolangal earned her a number of fans.

She finished her Bachelors’ degree in Commerce at the Mumbai University. Her two brothers Mayur Jaidev and Nakul are also actors. Her birth name was Sushma. She started her career as an actress in a Bengali film Shaat Ponchomi in the name of Sushma. After that she moved to Tamil film industry. She acted as heroine in more than 35 films and acted with almost all the top actors like Ajith, Kamal Hassan, Vijay, Prasanth, Sarath Kumar, Vikram, etc.

Her first Tamil movie was Thotta Chinungi. Some of the films she acted are Vinnukkum Mannukkum, Suryavamsam, Azhagi, Thenali, Panchathanthiram, Kadhal Kottai, Friends, Appu, Kalloori Vasal, Vallarasu, etc. In the film Vinnukkum Mannukkum she played the role of actress Devayani herself. When she was acting in Suryavamsam directed by Vikraman, she met her husband Rajakumaran. At that time he was working as an assistant director. She fell in love with him and married him on 9 April 2001. Two daughters Iniya and Priyanka are the symbols of their love. She is an expert in cooking tasty dishes.

Actresses Roja Selvamani and Meena are her best friends. Roja remained a great moral support to her when she married Rajakumaran against the wishes of her parents. She starred in the debut film of Rajakumaran, Nee Varuvai Ena. When she built her house, she affectionately named it as Kadhal Kottai to pay tribute to her film in the same name that gave her good name and fame.
