Dev (tamil Actor) Biography

Swaminath Raamanathan, better known as Dev on cine screen is a Tamil film actor. He mostly plays supporting roles on silver screen. He is associated with cine world since 2014, when he got the first break through the bilingual, Vaayai Moodi Pesavum (Tamil)/ Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram (Malayalam). He played the supporting role of Nazriya Nazim’s love interest. Oru Naal Koothu (2016) and Vellai Pookal (2019) are his other major works, and both these roles got noticed.

He was born as Swaminath Raamanathan in Chennai on 26 October, 1988. His younger days were spent in Chennai, where he completed his school and college education. He schooled from SBOA School & Junior College and SBOA Matriculation and Higher Secondary School, Chennai. Later he took an engineering degree from SSN College of Engineering.

He got his first break to films through the Tamil – Malayalam bilingual, Vaayai Moodi Pesavum. Later he got a meaty role through 2016 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy-drama film, Oru Naal Koothu, directed by Nelson Venkatesan. The film was based on an experience of the life of the director. The film which told about traditions of Indian marriages opened to positive reviews. Dev played one among the three main leads of the film - Mukundan, and he was paired with Miya.

He came to limelight once again with 2019 Tamil thriller, Vellai Pookal, where he played the pivot role of Ajay Rudhran, an IT engineer and actor Vivek’s son. The film generally opened to positive reviews and his role as an estranged son in the film got noticed. He produced and acted in the web series, Happy to be Single.
