Deepak Shivdasani Biography

Deepak Shivdasani is a noted film director and producer associated with Bollywood cinema since 1980s. He is best known for action masala entertainers, and has delivered a few hits too. Though he has only a few hit films to his credit, Baaghi: A Rebel for Love, Gopi Kishan, Krishna, Bhai and Julie are among his major hits as a film director. He was quite active in the film industry in the 1990s. Through his movies, he launched south Indian heroines like Nagma, Raai Laxmi etc.

 

In 2017 he directed the sequel to his hit bold film, Julie. The film was titled Julie 2, and the film helped him to remain in limelight for a while. The movie also marked his comeback to films after one decade. He is best known for his association with Suniel Shetty, with whom he has delivered action hit films such as Gopi Kishan, Bhai and Krishna in the 1990s, and also flops like Mr. Black Mr. White, Pehchaan etc. Currently he is working on the sequel to the super hit Bhai, released 20 years ago. The movie also brings back the association of Suniel Shetty and the director after a long period.

 

Deepak S. Shivdasani hails from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He started film career in the early 1980s where he worked as an assistant director for movies such as Bezubaan, Woh Saat Din etc. As a film producer he marked his film debut with Bhavani Junction. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Zeenat Aman and Rati Agnihotri in pivotal roles. As a film director, he marked his film debut with Dadagiri in 1987. He produced the movie too. The film starring Dharmendra, Govinda and Padmini Kolhapure was a box office hit, and since then he mostly made action entertainers. Madam X, Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke etc are other directorial ventures.
