Deepa Nair Biography

Deepa Nair is a noted Malayalam film actress who played the female protagonist in the 2000 year romantic film – Priyam. She played female lead opposite Kunchacko Boban in the Children Oriented film, inspired from Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla blockbuster – Hum hain rahi pyar ke. Though the movie was a moderate success at box office, Deepa is still loved by millions for her innocent portrayal of the lead actress. She also gained quick fame through this single role. However Deepa disappeared from film scene after her debut flick.  She anchored many successful television shows on Asianet, which opened her doors to cinema.

She was born in Thiruvananthapuram in December 9, 1979. She is a trained classical dancer. Though she was interested in acting since younger days, her parents wanted her to complete studies first. She studied at NSS College, Neeramangara and completed Engineering. Though her father discouraged her when she got the first film offer, later he was convinced by many cine artists like Vipin Mohan, Bhagya Raj, Sanal, Sab John etc. Deepa was already a familiar face to TV audience through the shows she hosted in Asianet channel.

She made her film debut through Priyam in 2000. The popular romantic song – Kunnimani was pictured on Deepa and Kunchacko Boban. Though she received many film offers later including Tamil, she was never seen in movies! She turned down the offer of ‘Sahayathrikaykku Snehapoorvam’ opposite Kunchakko Boban once again and the role was later played by Kavya Madhavan.  She returned to her Engineering studies.

Manju Warrior is her favourite actress and she loves to do her roles like Kanmadam and Kannu ezhuthe pottum thottu in future. After completing her Engineering degree from Srichithra Engineering College, Thiruvananthapuram, she took a job in Infosys. She also married a computer engineer based in Singapore, Rajeev Nayar. Her marriage was conducted at Subramaniyam hall in Thiruvananthapuram and many film personalities including Kunchacko Boban attended the wedding. The couple has one daughter – Shradha, born in 2005.
