Chippy Biography

Chippy is a successful south Indian film actress who is a popular star of small screen for the past few years. Her role as Krishna’s devotee in the popular Malayalam serial, Shree Guruvayurappan aired on Soorya TV made her a household name. The serial also gave her best actress of television awards several times. Chippy, who closely resembles Malayalam talented actress Monisha gained huge attention after her debut Movie, Patheyam in 1993 as Mammootty’s daughter. She debut silver screen after 2 years of sad demise of Monisha and for the same reason, she too gathered popularity very soon.

 

Earlier she has appeared in a bit role in the movie, Thalastaanam released in 1992. Apart from Malayalam, she is a popular Kannada actress too, who won Karnataka state awards and Filmfare awards for best actress for lead role in the super hit movie, Janumada Jodi in 1996. The movie was screened successfully for 500 days. She is credited as Shilpa in Kannada movies. She has been most active in Malayalam and Kannada film industry during 1990’s and with 2000’s, she moved to small screen. Kattuvannuvilichapol, released in 2000 was her last onscreen appearance. The movie is still remembered for a popular song pictured on her, sung by Chitra, Kaatte nee veesaruthippol.

 

Chippy resides at Thiruvananthapuram busy with television serials. She is married to producer-director of Malayalam movies, Renjith and the couple has one daughter. Her popular television serials are Aakasaha Doothu (Sequel of blockbuster Malayalam movie, Aakashadooth released in 1993) and Sree Guruvayoorappan. Her most noted Malayalam movie still remains Patheyam, directed by Bharathan. Other popular Malayalam movies are CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed, Hitler, Poothiruvathiranalil, Devaragam, Achaammakkuttyde Achaayan, Kusruthikaatu , Prayikkara paappan and Harbor. It’s true, she didn’t get good roles in Malayalam movies after Padheyam. Bhoomi Tayiya Chochchla Maga, Mungaarina Minchu, Kalyani and Muddina Kanmani are a few Kannada movies.
