Captain Raju Biography

Captain Raju is a versatile and popular actor of Malayalam cinema known for portraying character and villain roles. He has been an established villain in the 1980’s and later moved to character roles. He is known for his powerful voice, dialogue delivery skills as well as excellent acting. He is also known as a producer, script writer, producer and dialogue writer. He has acted in over 500 Malayalam movies experimenting with different type of roles. He has also directed two movies - Etha Oru Snehagatha in 1997 and Mr. Pavanayi 99.99 in 2012. But both these movies failed at box office. He has also appeared in a few television serials and ads.

He was born at Omallur in Pathanamthitta District to K. G. Daniel and Annamma in the year 1950. He completed his graduation in Zoology and joined Indian Army as a first class officer at the age of 21. But his love to movies prompted him to leave his job and join film industry. He entered movies in 1982 doing minor roles and later moved to supporting and negative roles. His acting skills, height and smart looks earned him good roles in the 1980s and throughout 1990s. As a villain, he has done ‘Don’ roles in many movies and also has done a few comic roles.

Hello My Dear Wrong Number, Premale Lekhanam, Aavanazhi, Mattupetti Machan, Nadodikkattu , Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, August 1 and Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha are his most memorable roles in 1980’s and 1990’s. His role as Pavanai in Malayalam classic comedy, Nadodikkattu needs special mention. He made a movie with the same character - Mr. Pavanayi 99.99 in 2012. He played the title role in this movie.
