Bonda Mani Biography

Bonda Mani is an Indian actor of south Indian films, known for character and comic roles. He has appeared in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam language films. He has appeared in more than 270 films since early 1990s. He has been a regular presence of Tamil cinema since mid-1990s. Winner, Kuselan, Velayudham etc are among his noted performances as a comedian. Bonda Mani joined AIADMK in the presence of then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in June 2016. Hi real name is Kedheeswaran. His stage name Bonda Mani is derived from his diet of bondas (a type of south Indian snack), when he was a struggling actor, and it’s also the suffix of his mentor, Goundamani who remained a popular comedian of Tamil screen in the 1990s.

 

Bonda Mani was born as Kedheeswaran on September 19, 1963. He is of Sri Lankan origin. He worked in Singapore during the 1980s, during his 20s. In those days he got acquainted with Tamil film director K. Bhagyaraj who visited the country for a show, and that’s how he bagged his first film in a supporting role, Pavunnu Pavunuthan in 1991. Since then he has played more than 270 character roles on Tamil screen, and named the tag of a successful comedian too. His comedy scenes aside Vadivelu were instant hits in many Tamil films.

 

For the first three years, he played only less significant and bit roles on Tamil screen. His performance in Thendral Varum Theru in 1994 won positive reviews, and the role was a real breakthrough for his acting career. Since then he has worked with almost all leading film directors of Tamil film industry, and has also shared screen space with all the super stars of the silver screen too.
