Bharat Kapoor Biography

Bharat Kapoor is a talented and veteran character artist associated with Hindi cinema and television. Bharat is known for portraying negative roles most and portrayed more than 50 roles on screen. He excelled playing ‘crooked fellow’ roles on screen. He started his film career in 1972 and rose to prominence in the 1980s. He is equally popular to directors making commercial and offbeat movies. He played villain Bashir Khan in Yash Chopra’s musical, Noorie in 1979 which earned him recognition. It was followed by his negative role as Akhtar Hussain in the highly acclaimed Baazar (1982) was one of his major breakthrough roles. He has also directed two Bollywood films - Barsaat Ki Raat (1998) and Raeeszada (1990). Barsaat Ki Raat was the last work of legendary music director duo- Laxmikanth Pyarelal.

Bharat Kapoor known to be a bad guy of Bollywood is an accomplished theatre artist too. He is quite regular with television shows, and he started his television journey with Doordarshan serials in the 1980s. Chunauti marked his television debut and he appeared in a few shows of 1990s. He returned to small screen with Bhagyavidhata in 2009. Some of his noted appearances include – Bhagyavidhata, Kahani Chandrakanta Ki, Saans (1993), Tara (1993) and (1987).

Bharat Kapoor started his career in 1972 and he played small roles throughout 1970s. He rose to fame playing negative roles on screen. He received initial recognition through Noorie in 1979, and after that he received similar kind of roles. He played the negative character who hurdles the union of lovers in most of his films – for instance Noorie, Baazar etc. He was quite active in the 1980s, and played villain roles in most of his films. Aapas Ki Baat, Love Story, Taazat, Ustadi Ustad Se, Swami dada, Painter Babu, Qayamat, Nakhuda etc are some of his movies of 1980s.
