Balasubramaniem Biography 
K. T. Balasubramaniem is a well-established cinematographer of Tamil film movies known for the works - Pithamagan, Thevar Magan', 'Thiruda Thiruda' and 'Kuruthipunal'. He was an assistant to ace cinematographer P. C. Sreeram and has worked with him for his debut directorial venture Kuruthipunal, which was India’s official entry to Oscars in Foreign film category in 1995. Vaatakudi Eranian, a historical film was his debut work for which he received critics’ appreciation. 180, released in 2011 and Neerparavai (2012) are among his best works in the recent times. Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya, Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam are his latest works.
He belongs to Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, born in the year 1966. After primary education ftom Karaikudi, he completed graduation from APSA College, Trippattur. He married television newsreader E. Mala. He assisted cinematographer P.C. Sreeram for nearly 5 years. As an assistant of Sreeram, he worked for movies like Thevar Magan (1992), Thiruda Thiruda (1993) and Kuruthipunal (1995). As an independent cinematographer, his first work was Ladies Only in Hindi, which has not released yet.
The historical thriller, Vaatakudi Eranian marked his debut and he was praised for his amazing photography. The movie released in 1999 starred Murali in lead role. After that he has been associated with many National award winning and commercial hits of Tamil, the most notable ones being - Pithamagan, Thambi, M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, Vaseegara, Majaa, Azhagiya Thamizh Magan and 180. Pithamagan and 180 are his highly acclaimed works till now. In 2012, he received a nomination at SIIMA Award for Best Cinematographer, for the movie, Neerparavai directed by Seenu Ramasamy.
