Ayesha Raza Biography

Ayesha Raza is a film actress known for playing supporting roles in Bollywood movies. She is a very famous theater actress too, born into the families of artists, related to film and theatre.  Her two grand-aunts, the very famous Zohra Sehgal and Uzra Butt were associated with Bollywood cinema and theater since Black & White era. Her full name is Ayesha Raza Misra, married to Kumud Mishra, an Indian theatre and movie actor best known for playing character roles in Bollywood cinema.

Ayesha Raza developed a natural inclination for the theatre since very young, as she was born into the family of theatre artists like Zohra Sehgal and Uzra Butt. Ayesha’s mother too was a theatre artist, who started her acting career with the theatre group ‘Yatrik’ in Delhi in 1950 and continues to act to date. After receiving initial exposure of theatre, Ayesha went on to do her theatre training from the Dramatic Art and Design Academy in New Delhi under the guidance of Amal and Nissar Allana. ‘The Mahabharata Project’, which was directed by Zuleikha Chaudri was her first stage performance as a theater artist with the troupe. The play was specially conceived for the Prague Quadrennial 2003 and later travelled to many national and international theatre festivals. She is associated with English theatre, and looking forward to work in Hindi and Urdu plays.

While at Mumbai she also worked with Industrial Theatre Company. Clogged arteries, Ursula, Black bird, All the word share a cab etc are some of her noted works under the same drama company. As a stage actress, she has worked under theatre personalities like Pushan Kriplani and Arghya Lahiri. She is a seasoned film actress too, and was most recently seen in 2018 super hit Bollywood film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety playing Titu's mother. Her role with glimpses of comedy was well appreciated. Ayesha is also a voice artiste.
