Avishek Karthik Biography

Avishek Karthik is a film actor associated with Tamil cinema. He is almost a permanent fixture in director Gautham Menon’s movies and earlier has worked as his assistant for the movies, Pachaikili Muthucharam (2007) and Vaaranam Aayiram (2008). He also appeared in a cameo in "Kadhal Konjam" song of Muthucharam. As a film actor, he was first credited for Menon’s film, Nadunisi Naaygal, a Tamil psychological thriller film where he played the supporting role. In 2018, delayed comedy drama Kaathadi was released. It is Avishek Karthik’s first film in a lead role, and he was casted opposite Sai Dhanshika of Kabali fame.

Karthik is the brother of actress Maheswari and the nephew of actress Sridevi. He was born in Chennai. He is also credited by the names – Karthik and Deva. As many of his family members and close relatives are linked with cine world, he too joined the same stream. He joined as an assistant director to ace film maker Gautham Menon in 2006, and worked with him for a few movies. He also appeared in brief roles in Gautham’s movies during this period. When Gautham Menon announced a film titled Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam with Trisha as female lead, he decided to cast Karthik as one among the 4 leading male actors for the film. Unfortunately the film got shelved and Menon moved forward with a new project.

Karthik then continued his work with Menon as an assistant director and made brief appearances in the director’s film. He played Suriya’s friend in Vaaranam Aayiram. He was not associated with Gautham’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa team and later rejoined him through the movie, Nadunisi Naaygal in 2011. In the movie, he played the pivot role of Vijay and his name was credited as Deva for his debut flick.
