Assim Jamal Biography

Assim Jamal is a noted character artist associated with Malayalam cinema at present. Mostly known for portraying negative shaded roles, Honey Bee, Kurukshetra, Anwar, Casanovva, Honey Bee, Pakida, Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi, Anarkali and Pakida are some of his noted roles. Acting has been his passion since his childhood, and he started off with street plays. Later with minor roles, he moved to big roles in Mollywood. His negative role as a police officer in Prithviraj starrer super hit, Anarkali was well appreciated.

Assim Jamal hails from Thrissur, Kerala. He grew up watching movies in theaters, and since then acting has been in his mind. He has been a part of several street plays. Then he moved abroad where he worked in banking field. Though it brought a break to his acting career, his passion to become an actor stayed fresh in his mind. Kurukshetra directed by Major Ravi marked his acting debut in 2008, where he played a negative character Hydher, a Pakistani official. After that he was seen in small roles in several films, mostly of negative shades.

He also did a Pakistani role in Dr Biju’s Veettilekkulla Vazhi (2010). Though the role had just two scenes, they were crucial ones in the movie. He accepted the role solely because they were combination scenes with Prithviraj. After the film a friendship bloomed between Assim and Prithviraj and the actor even suggested Assim’s name to Amal Neerad for Anwar. Anwar was a major breakthrough in the early phase of his career. Assim also did a pivot role in Prithvi’s Anarkali in 2015. The film gave him a major break and helped to get him several noted roles later. Most recently he was seen in a cameo role in Honey Bee 2.5, released in 2017.
