Arindam Sil Biography

Arindam Sil is a famous actor and director associated with Bengali cinema. He has also worked as executive producer for a few movies. He is an actor turned director who marked his directorial debut in the year 2013 with the film, Aborto. The film was a tribute to Satyajit Ray, legendary filmmaker. After that he directed three films, Ebar Shabor, Har Har Byomkesh and Swade Alhade and all the movies were released in 2015. As a film actor he is associated with Bengali cinema since late 1990s. Sankha Sindurer Dibyi, Shatru Mitra, Swapno Niye and Tumi Ele Tai are some of his early releases.

 

Sil was born on 12 March 1974 in North Kolkata. He was born into a financially sound family. He completed M.B.A. in marketing from the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management, and later got involved with family business for a while. But his passion to movies brought him to the film world in the late 1990s. He moved to US to pursue his Ph.D in marketing, where he came across his friend Iqbal who took him to a television production company looking out for new actors.

 

His first break as an actor was given by Amal Sarkar and since then he got fully involved with film field. Apart from film field, he has got into teaching, writing, traveling, designing interiors etc. Presently Arindam is a member of the Cultural and Social Committee of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also serves as an Executive member of a popular NGO, The Bengal. He also worked as Executive producer since 2007. In 2009 he floated the new production company, Nothing Beyond Cinema, and has ventured into filmmaking.
