Anuj Sawhney Biography

Anuj Sawhney is a Bollywood actor known for both supporting and leading roles. He made his screen debut through romantic comedy ‘Nayaa Padosan’ in 2003. He was nominated for best debut actor in Zee Cine Awards, though lost to Shahid Kapoor who later went on to become a star. The movie revolves around three young boys who try to impress an Iyyengar girl, who becomes their new neighbour and finally, Raju portrayed by Anuj wins the girl’s heart. It was followed by another comedy, Fun 2shh: Dudes in the 10th Century where he played the male lead.

Anhuj is lucky enough to work with many leading actresses of Bollywood. In 2005, he was paired with Bollywood star Urmila Matondkar for the critically acclaimed movie – Naina. The movie received good reviews from critics and was a box office hit. He played the role of a doctor in the movie, who later falls in love with Naina. In 2006, he played male lead opposite former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen in the movie Chingari. But the movie was a box office failure.

He got noticed for the next time through 2006 flop film - Tom, Dick, and Harry, where he played the role of one among three friends. This comic movie with hit songs was a tribute to Bollywood with multiple references to older films and old characters. He portrayed the character Dick who disguised himself as Radhe Mohan from Tere Naam as a tribute to Bollywood stars. Later he was seen aside the ensemble cast of Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee (2008) aside Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Nauheed Cyrusi, Anjori Alagh, Nikita Anand, Rajat Bedi and Mohnish Bahl. A Delhite, he currently has taken a break from Bollywood and works as Managing Director of Swiss Military India Ltd.
