Anish Kuruvilla Biography

Anish Kuruvilla is a film director and actor from Telangana, who works in south Indian film industry. He directed two Telugu films and a Malayalam film up-to-date. Avakai Biryani (2008) and Ko Antey Koti (2012) are the movies directed by him in Telugu language. Prior to joining direction field, he worked as an actor in Telugu film industry, and has essayed both lead and supporting roles. He played lead role in the debut flick, Dollar Dreams (2000), the movie which also marked the debut of actress Satya Krishnan. Later he moved to character roles, and has played quite a few memorable roles on big screen.

Anish Kuruvilla hails from Hyderabad of present day Telangana. He worked as an executive producer with Sekhar Kammula, and also marked his debut as lead hero through Kammula’s Dollar Dreams in year 2000. However the movie went unnoticed. He was later seen in the film - Anand (2004) directed by Kammula in a supporting role, and movie’s success earned him more character roles in Telugu cinema.

After 2004 he took a break from screen and returned back only in 2016 for playing mature character roles. Pelli Choopulu (2016) as Prashanth's father-in-law marked his comeback. Very soon he got busy in the industry and played a few more character roles such as Nenu Local, Bharat Ane Nenu, Hello and Velaikkaran. He was also seen in a small role in 2016 Bollywood hit film, MS Dhoni: The untold story marking his debut in Hindi cinema.

After he took a break from acting in 2004, he concentrated on to his director dreams and directed three films. Avakai Biryani (2008) marked his directorial debut and Ko Antey Koti (2012), his second movie. Later he fully switched on to his acting career, starting his second innings. He calls himself an accidental actor, and never want to become a full-time actor.
